Blood Drive by American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee

The American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee serves Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union and Washington counties. Currently there is an Emergency Blood & Platelet Shortage in our region.

The most common type of donation is a blood donation, during which approximately a pint of ‘whole blood’ is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour.

A “Power Red” donation collects the red cells, but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.
